Description

Two Barn BuildingsI admit I was studying Andrew Wyeths work at the time, and wanted to experiment with stark lighting in this somewhat ordinary Berkshire scene. Archival prints are available in a range of papers, surfaces and sizes, standard size being 12 x 18. Surfaces include paper, metallic paper, metal, glass, ceramic, and more.

This was painted from a withering flower which I photographed in various stages of wilting

and is a little lighter

I painted several versions

I was struck by the vibrant light green of the grasses contrasted with the rich blue of the water

Most originals are watercolor on paper

It was a plein-air excursion I took with some other artists in Woodstock where I used to paint every week

Greylock on one of the peak autumn color days

I like the way the shadows of the real flowers fall on the watercolor and the viewer might not be able to tell where the real ones end and the painted ones begin
